I have been an internet user for some time now. I verbalize three email accounts for dissimilar purposes. One email is for my personal correspondences with my friends, the other email for my social networking sites and the last for my online shopping. I am a little obsessive compulsive by nature and I want all things in its allowable order.
Recently, I seem to observation that my inbox seems to be filled with more spam than ever. Although I do not reach my mailbox capacity, I seem to receive at least ten to twenty spam emails a day. At the lowest of each mail, there will be a link that is supposed to opt you out of these email database and every time I click on them, my email quota seems to go higher and I receive more spam. I don't know why they put that link there in the first place, if it does not indubitably opt you out of email listings.

What's indubitably bothering me is not just the fact that I seem to spend a combine minutes of my time deleting these messages, but the fact that these emails are not just unwanted, they are also malicious that are often sent by hackers, spammers, identity theft criminals or anyone that has malicious motives in sending the email. I know what they are after-my social safety number, financial account information like reputation card numbers and bank passwords or usernames, my full name, birthday and any other personal information that they can use for their assorted devilish schemes like identity theft.

I didn't have three email addresses before. I used only one and most of my online registrations and transactions are conducted using that email address only. However, since emails are getting less and less safe, I opted to have three email accounts. Of course, my original email account-my personal one-is the most precious. The two are either dummy accounts or disposable emails as I can arrange of them if they get hacked or something.
I am very well aware that criminals are not just spamming my inbox for their advertisements. I am aware that they send emails that have malwares embedded in them as they seem to have favoured emails as their sole means of stealing personal information to commit fraud. I am so very well aware of phishing attacks that is why I am never trusting of emails that are sent in my inbox from sources that I am not well-known with. There are even instances when I ignore emails that seem to have originated from my bank because I know for a fact that if my bank want to taste me, they will either call me or send me a snail mail. They would not use my email. That is not an selection for me.
May this serve as a warning for every internet user out there. Do not be too trusting. Protect your email because that's probably the best thing that you can do to prevent yourself from being a victim of online identity theft.
